How did you get in to Photography?

I got into photography as a schoolboy,then when I left school I

worked for a number of photographers and also in a commercial lab.
I then worked with ace lensman Cornel Lucas who was famous for
  his Hollywood style portraits.

How did your first model shoot go?

I remember one day a sensational black model came to the studio

from New York, I had to go and pick her up from the underground in
sloan square. After about an hour of makeup and clothes styling she
came out onto the studio backdrop and wow, it was a lot to take in for
a spotty teenager, wind machines, lights etc, a steep learning curve
  continued..

was about to begin. Twenty minutes later the shoot was over and
Cornel asked me if I would like to knock of a few shots for my folio
before she went, I jumped at the chance and that was it, I was
smitten, I have been shooting one form or another ever since.

Has moving to digital been good for you?

The major jump into the digital age has indeed been a wonderful
experience for all concerned, now you can shoot “till you drop”while
being able to see for yourself and show clients the shots as they
progress, which thankfully leads to far less re-shoots than in the
      “good old days”.
  Have a favourite model?

My favourite model is currently Hannah Barnet who was first
discovered by a photographer friend of his Shaun Healey. Shaun was
shooting a lingerie catwalk show, saw Hannah and new I would like
her, after the initial meeting she did her first photoshoot last summer
wearing wedding dresses from New York on a beach in Devon.

Do you prefer location shoots or studio shoots?

I favour shooting on location, usually in manors, hotels and the great
outdoors, although its great to have the complete control of a studio
      when it comes to lighting.

Love your nostalgia gallery, is that personal work?

It's slightly personal, 2 years ago I won the portrait section of
practical photography, it was picked up by the press and a young
fashion designer contacted me and asked me if I would shoot her
first collection, as most students are pretty poor I agreed to do it at
cost as long as the end result was good enough to add to my folio and
what you see here is the end result.
    Plans for the future?

I have recently moved into the social side of photography and have

mellowed to the idea of contemporary wedding work, which with the
advent of digital makes life a lot easier. I no longer live the the
manic bustle of cities, being nicely installed in the Cotswold's these
    days.
  Any advice for models?

Advice for models would be it’s a dog eat dog world out there, many
fall by the wayside, however even if you have a short career you will
meet a wide variety of people and go to some amazing places, some
will claim to be your best friends but more often than that they are
the ones who one day will stab you in the back! it's hard to succeed.
